In a whirlwind series of events we’re moving from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia this fall! It’s super exciting and totally unexpected. The next few weeks are going to be pretty crazy around here!
I’m excited to get to check out more of Philly and spend more time with my Philly friends. But, I’m also really sad to be leaving Pittsburgh. A lot has happened in the short time we’ve been here!
Jason and I grew Refresh Pittsburgh from its first tiny meeting in an Oakland coffee shop to a bi-monthly evening event that attracts kick-ass speakers and 50+ awesome Pittsburgh web folks every time.
We’ve run six conferences here in the last five years (with lots of help, of course). Web Design Day has grown from a tiny community event, nearly tripled in size, and turned into a conference with the best attendees and speakers around. (In my totally non-biased opinion, of course.)
None of this would have been possible without all the amazing folks that make up the Pittsburgh web community. It’s full of sincere, talented, and friendly folks who are truly among some of the best people I’ve ever met. Nothing we did would have amounted to anything if it weren’t for everyone who attended and supported our events. You built this community. And it’s one of the best ones out there! I’m very happy and thankful to have had a small part in getting Pittsburgh’s web community the attention it deserves.
Neither Web Design Day or Refresh Pittsburgh will be going away. Plans for this year’s Web Design Day are still going strong and we’re co-ordinating a small dedicated group to take over Refresh Pittsburgh when we leave.
We’ve got around two months before the move, so let’s hang out and do all the fun Pittsburgh things before September! Of course, we’ll still be back often, but who wouldn’t want an extra excuse to do fun things, right?
Bring on the new adventures!
